Basketball Program Overview

Homenetmen Ararat’s mission is to prepare exemplary and law abiding citizens by providing physical and health education, endowing the mind and soul of the members with the finest spirit of sportsmanship and developing an understanding of responsibility and honor as they strive for individual and collective excellence.

The Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter’s Basketball Division follows the Chapter’s overall objective of serving the Armenian community in Glendale by creating the best family atmosphere for the physical and intellectual growth of our members through athletics. Basketball is the most popular sport at Homenetmen “Ararat” Chapter. There are approximately 800 boys and girls ages 7 years and up participating in 40 practice teams. The teams are divided by age and gender.

Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of the game in a very structured environment, be a good role model, emphasize teamwork, create a fun environment and encourage the efforts of our members. For individuals who like advancement in Basketball, our program creates opportunities to have better chances in getting in high school and college scholarships programs. Basketball division is committed to develop and organize various activities, such as Tournaments, clinics, camps, and other similar activities to reach our division objectives. For new starters there is also sessional (transitional) basketball D-League program, which allows kids ages 4-14 to try the sport before becoming a member and part of year around basketball program.
